The Municipality of Kameno becomes part of the Ministry of tourism`s strategic vision for the Southern Black Sea coast

The Municipality of Kameno received high praise for its active efforts in developing historical and cultural tourism during the visit of Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh to the Burgas region. The minister visited the medieval town of Rusokastro, a site of national significance located within the municipality. During his visit, the minister was accompanied by the Regional Governor of Burgas, Vladimir Krumov, and Dr. Milen Nikolov – Director of the Regional Historical Museum in Burgas.

"Kameno is a vivid example of how local authorities can turn cultural heritage into a driver of sustainable tourism. I am convinced that, with the municipality’s proactive approach and the support of the state, Rusokastro will establish itself as a key tourist destination on the Southern Black Sea coast," said Minister Borshosh. He emphasized that the Ministry of Tourism is working actively to promote tourist sites in municipalities bordering the Black Sea, as part of efforts to expand Bulgaria's tourism map.

Dr. Milen Nikolov, Director of the Regional Historical Museum, shared information about recent discoveries at the Rusokastro fortress site, including the uncovered citadel, barracks, water reservoir, and over 200 meters of the original fortress wall, reaching a height of more than 5 meters.

The Municipality of Kameno continues its excavation work at the site, and the progress of the project for the conservation and presentation of the site is being carried out in close cooperation with the academic community and state institutions.

Minister Borshosh expressed his support for the municipality’s efforts and emphasized that Rusokastro has the potential to become not only a valuable archaeological site but also a symbol of cultural tourism in Bulgaria—attracting thousands of visitors seeking a combination of seaside holidays and cultural-historical experiences.
