Svilengrad Municipality has launched a new information system for tourist sites as part of the project “Improving Access to Information on Tourist Infrastructure in Svilengrad Municipality.” To assist visitors, 115 directional and informational signs have been installed throughout Svilengrad and nearby villages along key tourist routes.
The platform provides quick and free access to information through QR codes placed on informational totems and signs at each site. By scanning the QR code, tourists can access the website https://www.gosvilengrad.bg/. The digital content offers detailed information in both Bulgarian and English about the municipality’s diverse cultural and historical heritage. Each site has its own submenu containing a description, essential information, photos, address and contact details, and a map with the exact location.
QR-coded informational boards are located at key pedestrian areas in Svilengrad: on Bulgaria Boulevard in the pedestrian zone, near the Municipal Library, in front of the Municipal Hall, and at the roundabout on Tsar Simeon Veliki Street. Ten informational stands with QR codes have been placed at each cultural and historical site, including:
-
The Old Bridge over the Maritsa River
-
Art Gallery
-
Municipal Library
-
Historical Museum – Svilengrad
-
Medieval Fortress and Thracian Dome Tomb – Mezek
-
Bukelon Fortress and Rock Church “St. Spirit” – Matochina
-
Rock Church “St. Panteleimon” – Mihalich
-
Thracian Dolmens – Levka and Studena
Additionally, 100 directional signs in “arrow” style, indicating the way to tourist sites, have been installed on poles at the entrances to Svilengrad and in the villages of Mezek, Matochina, Mihalich, Levka, Studena, Dimitrovche, and Sladun.
The project “Improving Access to Information on Tourist Infrastructure in Svilengrad Municipality” was implemented under Grant Agreement No. BG06RDNP001-19.857-0001-C01, funded through the Rural Development Program under procedure BG06RDNP001-19.857-S1 – LEADER “Svilengrad-Topolovgrad,” Measure 7.5 “Investments for Public Use in Tourism Infrastructure and Small-Scale Tourism Infrastructure.”
