At a press conference, the project "Renewable energy in the municipal educational infrastructure in the city of Velingrad, municipality of Velingrad" was presented, according to which a geothermal heat pump installation for heating, cooling and domestic hot water supply will be built in the "Edelweiss" DG. The total value of the project is BGN 471,280, of which 85% is provided, according to the rules of: financial mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014-2021, Ministry of Energy, program "Renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy security" under procedure BGENERGI -1.002 " Use of geothermal energy for heating or for heating and cooling in state or municipally owned buildings".

The head of the project, Svetla Tomova, explained that it is not about using mineral water, but about the temperature of the earth, which will be accumulated in special liquid capsules placed in 15 boreholes at a depth of 100 meters. Then, through heat exchange, the temperature will be transmitted to the system built in the kindergarten, in which ordinary water will circulate.

The project was agreed with the Basin Directorate of the Eastern White Sea Region - Plovdiv, after the presentation of two reports - hydrological and geological. The construction and installation activities will be carried out mainly on weekends, so as not to interfere with the educational process of the children.

The director of the kindergarten, Ms. Velichka Maneva, said that with the implementation of the project, the building's energy efficiency will increase, heating costs will be significantly reduced, and most importantly, this heating is healthier for the children and kinder to the environment.
