Pomorie Municipality is reporting strong interest from Bulgarian tourists during the peak summer season and is preparing new initiatives aimed at extending the tourist season into September. This was announced by Mayor Ivan Alexiev in an interview with Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) – Burgas.

Following a slower start to the season in June, the coastal town has become one of the preferred destinations for family holidays over the past few weeks.

“The beaches are full, the pedestrian zone is lively, and the town offers a rich cultural programme,” Mayor Ivan Alexiev said.

According to him, Pomorie continues to attract predominantly Bulgarian tourists, who choose the municipality for its combination of a peaceful atmosphere, family-friendly environment, rich cultural and historical heritage, and a diverse calendar of events.

One of the highlights of this year’s cultural programme is the first edition of the Sunset Port Music Festival, which will take place on 22 and 23 August in the port area. The festival will bring together popular Bulgarian performers and further enhance the town’s cultural tourism offer during the height of the summer season.

Pomorie Municipality is also working to extend the tourism season into the autumn. In partnership with local wine producers, the municipality will organise a Pomorie Wine Festival in early September. The initiative aims to promote local wineries and encourage the development of wine and culinary tourism as a complement to the traditional summer tourism product.

At the end of July, Pomorie will also commemorate the 120th anniversary of the burning of Anchialos. On 30 July, a solemn Holy Liturgy will be celebrated at the Church of the Holy Transfiguration of the Lord by Metropolitan Ignatios of Dimitrias and Metropolitan Arseniy of Sliven.

An official delegation from Greece will participate in the commemorative events, while representatives of the twin towns of Pomorie, Nea Anchialos and Anchialos will sign a joint declaration aimed at strengthening cooperation and preserving their shared historical memory.
