An expert council on sports made up of proven sports figures has been formed at the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo. The initiative was taken by the deputy mayor for sports, youth activities, tourism and demographic policies, Georgi Nedev. The purpose of the expert council is to help expand the cooperation and work between the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo and the sports clubs, and if questions arise, they should be resolved through dialogue and an even faster order.

The expert council includes sports experts Georgi Davidov and Yordan Durchev, the manager of the Municipal Enterprise "Sports Properties and Events" Petko Pavlov, proven sports figures and coaches such as Antoaneta Selenska, Boncho Genchev, Miroslav Kolev, Snezhina Mihova, Assoc. Svetoslav Stefanov, the journalist Anatoli Petrov. The composition of the advisory body remains open.

During the first working meeting, the regulation on the financing of sports clubs and future amendments to the legal framework were discussed, the development of the material base for sports in recent years and the investment program of the Municipality in this area within the new mandate were discussed. Georgi Nedev presented the intentions to develop a new methodology to support the football clubs competing in the regional divisions, as well as children's football in the municipality.

An information campaign about the activities of the Municipality in the field of mass and professional sports and to encourage clubs to apply for projects is about to be held.

The day before, the Deputy Mayor of Veliko Tarnovo Georgi Nedev discussed in the Ministry of Youth and Sports the measures for investments in sports facilities in the municipalities. He held a working meeting with the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Petar Mladenov. The two discussed the vision of the state and the prepared programs and mechanisms by which the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo will be able to apply for investments in sports facilities. The adviser to the Minister of Youth and Sports Daniel Alexandrov and the parliamentary secretary Kaloyan Stoinov also took part in the meeting.

The need for more facilities for both professional and mass sports in the city and in the populated areas of the municipality is raised as an issue at every meeting I hold with young people, youth organizations, sports clubs and associations, commented Nedev. He added that next month the Municipality will organize a meeting of the sports clubs in Veliko Tarnovo with Deputy Minister Mladenov and his team on the measures for which the clubs will be able to apply with their own projects.
